Not everyone has the capital to invest with the big boys. Most of us start small.
David Snowball's Mutual Fund Observer (via Abnormal Returns) has compiled some funds that those of us with thinner wallets can still jump in on. There used to be tons. When the MFO compiled a list in the 1990s, there were around 600. Since then, most raised their investment minimums until T. Rowe Price was the last of the major firms that still carried the product -- now they're giving it the axe.
So you're left with about 130 options, and this piece of knowledge from the Mutual Fund Observer:
